Groups

Non-Sponsorship & Church Groups
Every year countless groups representing all segments of our community help to build Habitat homes. A group of people can accomplish a lot on a construction site in one day.

For non-sponsor groups, Habitat construction days are dependent on availability, from 8:30am to about 3:30pm, year-round. Please call 860-398-6483 or contact us via email to schedule a date for your group. Contact us with multiple potential dates that will work for your group. We make every effort to schedule preferred dates. The maximum number for a group is 10 people depending on the stage of construction and the number of individual or regular volunteers who may already be scheduled. Smaller groups are also welcome. Group volunteers are expected to arrive together and remain the entire day. We do not schedule partial days or late arrivals. If you are interested in having a Corporate Team Build Day, please see the information provided in the section below and/or contact Maria Lopez via email or phone: 860-398-6483.

The minimum age to participate in a build is 16. An adult chaperone to volunteer ratio (of 1 to 5) must be maintained for youth groups with volunteers under the age of 18.

Please note: construction delays, weather-related issues and other unforeseen factors beyond our control occasionally require us to change a scheduled volunteering date.

While volunteers are a critical element of Habitat’s home building processes, contributions enable us to acquire properties, purchase building materials, and have the skilled staff necessary to provide our volunteers with a safe and meaningful building experience. Your donations also make it possible for us to sell Habitat homes below cost to deserving homeowners with a 0% mortgage, limiting our families’ housing expenses to no more than 30% of their income.
